An Unfinished Story

Book, Publication, Editorial design

The book opens by situating the stories of Korean comfort women within the backdrop of World War II, intertwining the broader history of conflict with the intimate narratives of sacrifice and resilience. Using a quiet, restrained visual language, it balances emotional weight with clarity and respect, inviting younger generations to empathize and remember what history has often silenced.

The overall black background symbolizes silence, mourning, and respect, an acknowledgment of the voices that were suppressed and the stories that were left in the shadows. Throughout the book, yellow pages appear as sudden interruptions. These pages serve as alerts, carrying direct quotes or short but powerful messages from survivors. The contrast between black and yellow reflects the tension between silence and exposure, pain and remembrance, allowing viewers to pause and confront the stories that must not be forgotten.
